Tube finning is a cold forming process to form fins on tubes.
This is achieved by using a 3 or 4 shafts, on which rolling dies are mounted to deform the tube.

These finned tubes are used in heat exchangers, where the fins facilitate the exchange of heat between the fluid flowing inside and outside the tube.

Applications

Finned tubes are used in heat exchangers in a wide range of fields, such as nuclear power, heating installations, etc. Different types of tubes can be produced, using stainless steel, copper, aluminium… etc. with high or low fins.
